The Little Prince Review
.
. One of the best spiritual books ever written for me is The Little Prince by Antoint de Saint-Exupery. Although is usually sold as book for children, it is nevertheless book for adults, because more then children, adults are they who need to be reminded on simple truths about real values in human life.
This enchanting novel came into my life on my 20th birthday as a present from one special person. In the following years I discovered that guy who gave me that book was not so special at all, but The Little Prince stayed with me as my faithful and sparkling companion in the many crucial moments of my life.
Antoint de Saint Exupery, world famous writer and pilot, wrote it to his and our inner child, this little sparkle of joy, love and innocence everyone of us carry in the hearts. His words touch deeply, they lead to the core of reader`s inner being and open hearts of the reader for the accepting the deeper meaning of human existence in universe.
The Little Prince is powerful story, written from pure essence of love, simple and unbelievable strong . It also faces us with our many human ego-trips which do not allow us to experience freedom and joy of life and make us, adults so rigid and strange in innocent eyes of children.
While travelling with the little prince through the universe and accompanying him on the Earth reader will experience many moments of inner enlightenment, moments of joy and deep sadness. Yes, this adventurous novel is deeply emotional from the very beginning to the end - it surrounds one with brilliant sparkles of deep love and innocence, it makes one laugh and cry together with the little prince, it teaches one responsibility, it gently heals the soul, it reminds one on truth about immortality, it shows to all of us the ways how we can create much better world then we now live in and explains one why is this worthwhile - what can we more expect from one book?
.
From the novel:
The Little Prince and the Fox
...
The little prince went back to meet the fox. "Goodbye," he said. "Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.
"It is the time I have wasted for my rose---" said the little prince so he would be sure to remember.
"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose . . . "
"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember...

Beautiful Tatjana - thank you for reminding us all of this beautiful story that speaks volumes. It is timeless.
Hi Tatjana - one of my favourite books - thank you for bringing it back to top of mind. I'll have to go hunt out my copy! Yes, you're right - it's the simplicity, the purity and the innocence of it all that grabs the heart.
Charming
Never read the Little Prince; when I stop by the library, I will check it out. I love inspiration. Thanks for bringing it into my awareness.
I remember reading this - or having it read to me and a reminder that it is a wonderful story for my own children - thanks.
I've loved "The Little Prince" for SO many years!! It's such an inspiration! I read it periodically - when I haven't given my copy to someone and have to get another! Once I did that, though, and the recipient sent it back with lovely inscriptions of appreciation in the frontispiece! So I treasure that copy especially.
Rebekkah - did you realize that the rose in the story really symbolizes the author's wife, Consuelo, who was South American, a writer & artist in her own right? Some quotes from her book about it:

"The Little Prince's" author, Antoine de Saint Saint-Exupéry, has written some other outstanding books about his early pioneer aviation experiences, especially flying over the Sahara in WWII. My favorite of those is "Wind, Sand and Stars".
I like the way you presented the essence and feeling of this story. I will have to check out my local library to see if they have it. I may just have to purchase a copy to add to my lirary. Thanks.
Great book and great review! Thanks for this.
Thank you for introducing it to me and for a wonderulf review.
I was introduced to the Little Prince through a children's literature class and I remember the book fondly. His conversations with the various types of adults is one of those things that makes you really reflect on how distracting things can be in the adult world. On a side note, the Little Prince made a cameo appearance in an episode of the show Futurama. I can't recall the episode number, but two boys had to deliver mail to a space suburb, and the little prince was standing on one of the nearby planets. It was a nice little reference.
A great book and a perfect way to bring life experiences to a child, but also to remind adults of life's real values. Thank you Tatjana for keeping this great book on the front page of our life.
The Little Prince is one of the most beautiful, meaningful books written. Thanks for sharing. Wonderful hub.
This is the fourth site where I have made a comment and it does not show, so it cannot be the comments I make. Any ideas :-))
Never heard of the book, but it sounds beautiful and intriguing. Thank you so much for sharing and introducing the read to me. Peace my friend.
I agree with you. A story agreed by both adults and children. That book is about holding on to childhood, ignorance and innocence. http://bookcreak.com
i very love the story its enjoi and lovely :)
Thanks for an interesting review. I must have something wrong with me - I have never managed to finish the book, after trying a few times. It's a bit like the J.R.R. Tolkien books - I can't get past about page three of any of them either! So I will have to take your word for this one!
Thanks for sharing.
Love and peace
Tony
Thanks for the lovely review on one of my favorite books from childhood. I first read it when I was a kid, but over the years I have found even more meaning in its simple story. I'm glad one of my aunts lives in Paris, because she can find me Little Prince stuff everywhere--I still wear the T-shirt every summer!
Please, check my last hub, is related with the Little Prince Story. My son is fare away from me.

Tatjana, it makes perfect sense that this a favorite of yours! This book is so special to me also. It is beautiful for a child to read or hear because they still understand. Reading it as an adult reminds us of what is most important. One year I received a worn 50th anniversary edition of this book as a gift from the school librarian. She knew I would treasure it and I do.
"What moves me so deeply, about this little prince who is sleeping here is his loyalty to a flower- the image of a rose that shines through his whole being like the flame of a lamp, even when he is asleep..." thanks Tatjana for sharing this beautiful story! love, light~
