Healing Power of OLIVE OIL, OLIVE LEAF and OLIVE FLOWER

From the time of my childhood, when I started to read various myths and legends of ancient Mediterranean life, I was mesmerized with power and mystery of olive trees which were for many thousand of years accompanied people living in this area : giving them shed during the long and hot summer days, generously feeding them with their fruits (and oil), healing them with leaves and bark, inspiring them to write many songs and poems about their magical beauty, strength, persistence and peacefulness...

Even when several hundreds years old trees are removed to some other place - they continue to live, grow and prosper.

Mediterranean would never be so magical without olive trees which silver-green lives gently whisper their songs on every breeze of the wind.

Olive trees are able to survive in conditions where there is constant lack of water on summer days, they often live just in poor or rocky soils,are constantly exposed to salty sea-winds, they cannot stand only extreme cold.

In coastal part of my country we call them "beauties". Olives we call "gold". They deserve these titles for sure.

When I recently started to take care about olive trees on island Iz (My Hub: My organic garden) I was amazed when I discovered this small rotten part of one olive tree which was (as one big branch) cut many years ago and somehow stayed connected with the bark. This tiny little, obviously destroyed part of the tree was able to create new, fresh, strong and healthy roots.... While clearing around the tree, I removed it from the soil thinking that was useless, but after I saw fresh roots I just realized that olive trees are even more powerful that I ever could imagine. No other tree I know would be able to create new healthy roots in such condition.

All parts of olive tree have tremendous healing properties - olives, olive oil, leaf, bark, flowers... due to the pure and amazingly strong vital energy of olive trees....

Olive trees are also known that possess power of healing emotional wounds and are able to bring people on higher level of conscioussness (trees are very intelligent creatures, what knows everyone who takes care about plants.), but for that purpose, one primarily needs to spend some time with them, in their shadow or even better - to start to take care about them.

I loved it!! I wish I had an Olive Tree now. The flowers and fruti atre simply beautiful. I didn't know about all those uses. I might hae to go out to the Health Food Store and get some of that Bach Flower Olive Oil tincture and see what else they may have. I am going to bookmark this one.

I knew olive oil is healthy especially for adding to foods and cooking but was not aware of the myriad of benefits you listed. Everyday I am respecting nature more and more, and I am grateful. I keep a bottle of virgin oil in the bathroom and use it at times as a face moisturizer when I want to take a break from the regular moisturizer I use.

I was actually making olive oil dressing just a few moments ago. I guess I was "drawn" to your hub! Where would we be without the magic of olives?! I dont' have an olive tree, but I do have two tea olive bushes - Osmanthus fragrans which is in the olive family and produces flowers almost identical to those in your photo. Hi green tea-cher : heating olive oil on too high temperatures for too long does destroy its healing properties...when this happens, there is significant change in the smell you can sense while cooking...

I really enjoyed this read about olive trees.I like olives too. We don't have olive trees in this part of the world as the climate is quite wrong for them. Down in the Western Cape there are many olive orchards.
